History

North Point Child Development Center is the first subvented English-teaching Special Child Care Center (SCCC) by the Social Welfare Department in Hong Kong. It commences operations in 2023. Its aim is to provide professional training for preschool children with special needs and family support for their parents. Our professional team includes an occupational therapist, a speech therapist, a physiotherapist, a social worker, special child care workers, and a nurse, who offer intensive support to promote children's holistic development.

Objective

  • We facilitate children to develop their potential in various areas through integrated, child-centered activities that focus on cognitive, language, social-emotional, physical, self-emotional, physical, self-care and creative development
  • We provide a safe and supportive environment for children to develop their self-concept, fostering a positive attitude of respect and acceptance towards oneself and others
  • We offer love, care, counseling and education to support families and parents in facing the challenges of family uncertainties and concerns in rearing children with special needs

Facilities

Our centre is fully equipped with various function rooms to enable all-round development of children and their families. These include Physiotherapy Room, Occupational Therapy Room, Speech Therapy Room, Multi-Function room, Interview Room, Parent Resources Area, and so on.

Service Recipients

  • Non-Chinese speaking children aged 2 to 6 years
  • Children who have been assessed and demonstrate one or more of the following developmental disabilities:
    • Moderate to severe intellectual disability ‧Moderate to severe physical impairment
    • Severe to profound hearing impairment or deafness
    • Severe to profound low vision or blindness
    • Severe behavioral or emotional problems, hyperactivity, or autism
