Jockey Club Food Assistance Programme
HistoryThe outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to the Hong Kong community and spiked the unemployment and underemployment rate, leading to rising demand for food assistance service. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust approved a HK$450 million donation to launch the “Jockey Club Food Assistance Programme” (“JCFAP”) to collaborate with six NGOs and business partners to provide 4 to 52 weeks of food assistance for approximately 126,000 persons who are facing financial hardship through a variety of innovative initiatives. JCFAP is more than a food assistance programme. It aims at promoting a healthy lifestyle by providing the service recipients with healthy food choices and health information that are recommended by registered nutritionists. The project targets to offer customised health management solutions for all individuals. ObjectiveTo provide 4-16 weeks transitional food support and relief for the eligible persons and families who are unemployed or severely underemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and facing financial hardship. Service RecipientsEligible person and families who live in Shamshuipo and YauTsimMong area that are unemployed and underemployed after February 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
