Chan Han Nursery School

History

Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Sau Mau Ping Day Nursery commenced operation in 1979 to provide care and educational services for young children. It was renamed Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Chan Han Day Nursery on 19 July 1982 after a donation from Ms. Chan Han. It was relocated from Upper Sau Mau Ping Estates to the present site in Auguest 1994 upon redevelopment of public housing estates. With the implemenetation of Harmonization of Pre-primary Services, the centre was registered under Education Bureau as Kindergarten-cum-Chlid Care Centre in September 2005.

Objective

• To develop and enhance children's social, intellectual, emotional, language, arts and creative and physical abilities through a broad, stimulating and well balanced curriculum and activities.
  
• To provide safe and supportive environment, allowing children to develop their self-concept, and hence the positive attitude of respect and acceptance towards oneself and others
• To foster positive learning attitude of children.
• To prepare children for smooth transition to primary schooling.
• To advise parents/ carers on child care and rearing related matters.

Facilities

The nursery school has floor area of around 473 sq. m., which included 3 activities rooms, indoor big muscle playground, music room, kitchen, children's toilet, supervisor room and staff room.

Each activity room provides a diversity of age-appropriate learning corners for dramatic play, reading and writing, art and craft, constructive play, computer programme, sand and water, etc.

Service Recipients

• Children aged 2 - 6
• Priority placement would be granted to families with social needs referred by Social Welfare Department.
