History

G/F - 1/F, 3 Hung Ling Street, Hung Hom, Kowloon Ho Yuk Ching Workshop [formerly known as Hang Ngai Manufacturing and Hostel) had been operated by the Social Welfare Department (SWD) since February 2002. It provides sheltered workshop training for persons with disabilities. On 1 April 2012, the operation of the service unit was transferred to Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

Objective

  • To provide those persons with disabilities who are unable to enter into open employment with appropriate vocational training so as to help them develop social and economic potentials to the fullest extent possible.
  • To enhance their work capacity in order that they can move on to Supported Employment service or open employment whenever possible.

Facilities

Ho Yuk Ching Hostel is situated at a 2-storey extension wing of a private housing estate, with an internal floor area of about 1700 square metres. While the workshop, conference room, canteen, pantry and reception are located on ground floor, meanwhile, there are also a multi-purpose room, medical room, kitchen, laundry room, pantry and office.

Service Recipients

The service users of SW should be persons with disabilities aged 15 and meet the following criteria:

  • capable of basic self-care;
  • mentally and emotionally stable with no active infectious disease and severe disturbing behaviour; and
  • having work motivation/ability through assessment prior to admission.
