History
In order to enhance the service quality of long term care, the Social Welfare Department has launched a “Multi-disciplinary Outreaching Support Teams for the Elderly with Additional Allocation for the Provision of Speech Therapy Service” (MOSTE), to establish district-based professional teams, which includes social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to provide multidisciplinary outreaching service to the residents of private residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs). And the outreaching speech therapy service will also be delivered to the residents of Contract Homes (and users of its attached day care units) and Self-financing RCHEs / Nursing Homes.
Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lok Ying Outreaching Allied Health Service has been delegated by the Social Welfare Department to provide services to the residents living in captioned homes located at Central, Western, Southern and Islands.
The Social Welfare Department has included the program into Lump Sum Grant from 15 February 2023.
Objective
- To provide free social and recreational activities and professional rehabilitation service to residents in private RCHEs, for fulfilling their social-psychological needs and needs of rehabilitation, and enhancing their quality of life;
- To provide free speech therapy service to the residents of Contract Homes (and users of its attached DCU) and Self-financing RCHEs / Nursing Homes, for fulfilling their rehabilitation needs on speech therapy;
- To provide trainings and consultations to carers and staffs of private RCHEs, Contract Homes (and its attached day care units), Self-financing RCHEs / Nursing Homes to enhance the quality of care for residents.
