History

TWGHs Wong Shiu Ching Centre for the Elderly, the first centre for the elderly of Tung Wong Group of Hospitals, is located at Wah Fu Estate, Southern District of Hong Kong Island. The centre was officially opened on 16 March 1982.

Upon the re-engineering of community support services for elders in April 2003, our centre was restructured into a self-financing centre for the elderly.

Service Objective

  • To encourage the elders to make good use of their leisure time, to develop their potentials by participating actively in community affairs and enhancing a fruitful life.
  • To assist the elders to make good use of community resources and to build up a caring community through active participation.
  • To promote better understanding , respect and care towards the elders through community education programmes.

Facilities

Television, movie, drama, hi-fi, karaoke, healthy mini canteen, newspapers, magazines, resource corner, physical exercise equipments, chesses and computers.

Service Recipients

People aged 50 or above and living in the Southern District.
